Anchored by the VSM website, participating short filmmakers will receive unparalleled promotional opportunities. From on and off-line film exhibition to a variety of distribution outlets, it all starts with submission to the Quarterly Competition. See below for a step-by-step overview of how it works:
Step 1: Submit your film.
Step 2: VSM Programming Committee will review all entries on a quarterly basis. All films will be seen by at least 3 representatives.
Step 3: The highest scoring films in each of the categories will be reviewed by the jury, a panel of industry professionals. The Programming Committee will also consider marketability for other submissions that may not in fact be finalists in the Competition.
Step 4: The quarterly finalists will be announced, promoted on the VSM website and move on to participate in the annual Film Festival.
Finalists from the Quarterly Competitions will participate in the annual Film Festival, to take place Winter 2006 in Hollywood, California, competing for the Golden Star Awards. This event will provide filmmakers terrific exposure to live audiences and members of the film community.
Presentation of films to audiences and industry professionals.
Qualify for Academy Award consideration.
All filmmakers are eligible for prizes, to be presented at the Golden Star
Awards ceremony, as part of the Festival's Closing Night Gala.
Opportunity to meet other filmmakers, producers and screenwriters.
Opportunity to pitch upcoming projects to industry professionals.
In addition to Quarterly Competitions and Film Festival theatrical exhibition, VSM will support short filmmakers with a variety of distribution opportunities. Regardless of a film's success in the Competitions, VSM will pursue alternative distribution opportunities for all submissions. Following initial review by the programming committee, VSM will consider the marketability of each film on a project-by-project basis.
